    MILE 18 "Waxing"

LOCATION: Kelly's Cove at the Cliff House Beach

    SCOTTY

(A surfer sitting on the sand waxing his surfboard preparing to paddle out into the ocean)

Excuse me, while I wax my stick. City people live different... And city people die different. There's no cemeteries here man... There's no room. It's kinda creepy. We export our dead to the south… Man, I don't want to end up like that... Dead... and in Colma. It's fucking redundant. The city of the dead. Hell, I'll never end up there man... I want to be scattered. I mean like flung out into the ocean. Ashes to the wind. I just want to float... and ride the waves forever... Just sink down into the blue... And dissolve, you know? Become one with the water. You ever hear that our tears... are made of the same things as seawater? Makes ya think… You know?
