49 Miles review in the Oakland Tribune
Review by Chad Jones
Oakland Tribune
San Francisco's 49 Mile Scenic Drive has, for the last 63 years, inspired a lot of tourists to take a lot of snapshots of the city's spectacular sights. But now the drive, which meanders through a startling array of cultures, economic levels and civic treasures, has inspired a full-length play. San Francisco writer Trevor Allen has turned his fascination with the scenic drive into a play called 49 Miles, which had its world premiere Friday night at the EXIT on Taylor Theatre in San Francisco. With a refreshing lack of cynicism and a keen eye for paradox and sentiment without sappiness, Allen uses the 49 Mile Scenic Drive as basis for examining a diversity of human experience.
